About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and technically proficient System Administrator to support the Land Network Integration Centre (LNIC) Support Environments team. This role underpins the Land Combat Systems Battle Lab by managing the networked physical and virtual infrastructures that make up the Land Combat Systems Support Environment and related domains.
The position is hands-on and involves oversight of a complex compute and storage infrastructure supporting multiple physical and virtual tenancies. The successful candidate will contribute to the provision, administration, and security compliance of IT resources, while ensuring the infrastructure meets the evolving needs of concurrent Defence initiatives.
You will work collaboratively with Defence military personnel, contractors, and industry partners to manage and sustain support environments. Responsibilities include providing technical documentation, supporting stakeholder training, and offering SME input on planning and risk management for system upgrades and expansions.
This is a 12-month contract based primarily in Symonston, ACT, with potential interstate and international travel. The contract allows for up to 230 workdays in FY 25/26 and includes the possibility of two one-year extensions.
Salary Range
Key Responsibilities
Administer and manage virtual and physical infrastructure environments.
Maintain hardware and software configuration management including periodic audits.
Conduct availability and capacity management of IT resources.
Support security accreditation processes through monitoring, assessments, and patching.
Manage changes within the infrastructure and handle setup/teardown of user environments.
Install, configure, and administer military applications (Windows/Linux).
Maintain up-to-date technical, configuration, and security documentation.
Provide SME advice and training to ADF, APS, and contractor stakeholders.
Support project planning, risk assessments, and capability expansion efforts.
Travel interstate/internationally to support Defence engagement as required.
Skills and Experience
Security Clearance: NV1 (Minimum) required
Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Business, or a related field
Proven experience managing enterprise-grade virtual and physical IT environments
Proficiency in configuration management, availability management, and change control
Strong understanding of Defence or military ICT environments (desirable)
Hands-on experience with Linux and Windows server systems and defence-specific applications
Ability to produce technical documentation and deliver technical training sessions
Experience supporting compliance and security accreditation frameworks
