Application Testers play a critical role in ensuring the functionality, performance, and reliability of software applications. In this role, you’ll be responsible for testing applications to identify bugs, enhance quality, and validate that they meet business and user requirements. Salary Range
Salaries for Application Testers range from AUD 70,000 for entry-level roles to AUD 180,000 for senior positions in industries requiring advanced testing expertise.
Key Responsibilities
Design, execute, and document manual and automated test cases to validate application functionality.
Identify, track, and report software defects using bug-tracking tools.
Collaborate with developers, business analysts, and project managers to ensure clear understanding of requirements.
Conduct performance, usability, and compatibility testing to ensure optimal user experience.
Verify compliance with security, regulatory, and performance standards for applications.
Develop and maintain testing documentation, including test plans, scripts, and summary reports.
Participate in regression testing and post-release validation to ensure ongoing quality.
Recommend improvements to development processes based on testing insights.
Skills and Experience
Proven experience in software testing, including functional, regression, and performance testing.
Familiarity with testing tools such as Selenium, JIRA, TestRail, or HP ALM.
Strong understanding of software development life cycles (SDLC) and testing methodologies (e.g., Agile, Waterfall).
Hands-on experience with automated testing frameworks and scripting languages (e.g., Python, Java, or JavaScript).
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail to identify subtle issues in applications.
Knowledge of API testing and tools like Postman or SoapUI is advantageous.
Certifications such as ISTQB Foundation, Certified Software Tester (CSTE), or Agile Tester are highly regarded.
